Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve was awarded the coveted TX2 award for doubling the number of tigers.

India's Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve has been awarded the coveted TX2 award for doubling the number of tigers after the year 2010. The reserve is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Landscape. The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve currently houses the largest tiger population in the world.

According to a press release by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) India, the awards were presented by Conservation Assured Tiger Standards, Fauna and Flora International, Global Tiger Forum, Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Program of IUCN, Panthera, UNDP, The Lions Share, Wildlife Conservation Society and Distributed by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).

All these organizations are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 13 tiger range countries, which are famous for doubling the global population of tigers by 2022. The award is given for the efforts of the state governments and local communities who have played a vital role in making this new tiger reserve the most populous place in India.

Sathyamangalam was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2013 and now there are around 80 tigers in the area. This Tiger Reserve plays an important role between the Nilgiri and Eastern Ghats landscape. The Mudumalai Tiger Reserve is well connected to other well-known tiger habitats like Bandipur Tiger Reserve and BR Hills Tiger Reserve.

Nearby areas like Erode Forest Division, Coimbatore Forest Division and Malai Mahadeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary are also emerging as important tiger habitats. This will allow tigers to move easily from one place to another in search of food and new territory.

In September this year, the Tiger Range countries will gather at the 2nd Global Tiger Summit in Vladivostok to evaluate the ambitious TX2 goal of 'doubling tiger numbers' and understand priorities for tiger conservation for the next 12 years.

Apart from the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, Nepal's Bardia National Park has won the TX2 award for doubling the number of tigers since 2010. The second award for tiger conservation goes to the Khata Forest Conservation Area in Nepal, the Tiger Conservation Excellence, which secures cross-border movement of tigers between Nepal and India.

Encompassing a network of 74 community forests spanning 202 km, the Khata Corridor where community-based conservation efforts have secured movement of tigers between Bardia National Park in Nepal and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary in India. In the last five years, 46 tigers have been observed using the corridor to host other iconic and threatened mammal species. These include the Asian elephant and the one-horned rhinoceros.

Stuart Chapman, lead of WWF's Tigers Alive Initiative, said: "The resolutions taken in 2010 demonstrate what can be achieved from long-term commitments to tiger conservation. Behind these extraordinary results is the dedication of the field teams, conservation partners and the communities that live alongside the tigers."

Sugoto Roy, Coordinator of the Integrated Tiger Habitat Program, IUCN, said, “Successful conservation of tigers involves consistent management and improvement of habitat scales, rigorous monitoring of tigers and their prey, and large-scale work with local communities. All these criteria have been met with excellence, giving us globally significant results.”

The TX2 target is one of the most ambitious conservation goals ever set for a single species, and the Second Global Tiger Summit in Vladivostok, September 2022, offers an opportunity to set a new vision to secure their future. Tiger numbers were probably 100,000 a century ago, but fell sharply to 3,200 in 2010. Their numbers gradually increased to 3,900 in 2016, based on estimates from Tiger Range countries.

Qazi can play the role of mediator, but cannot give orders like court: HC

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has said that a Qazi can play the role of an arbitrator for resolving mutual disputes among the people of the Muslim community, but he cannot pass orders like a decree by deciding justice in any matter like a court.

Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Rajendra Kumar Verma of the Indore Bench of the High Court made this observation while disposing of a PIL of a person. This person from the Muslim community had filed a petition in 2018 challenging the order of the Chief Qazi of Darul-Qaza Cantonment, Indore.

In the petition, the man had alleged that the Chief Qazi had pronounced the decree of divorce while hearing his wife's plea for 'khula' (Islamic procedure for seeking divorce from her husband by a Muslim woman).

The Double Bench said in the judgment that if a Qazi plays the role of a mediator to resolve the dispute among the people of his community, then there is no objection to it. But he cannot decide in such disputes like any court. He cannot issue a decree like a court. The court, citing a precedent of the Supreme Court, said that there is no legal right to any such order of the Qazi. Such an order can be completely ignored.

The High Court in its order clarified that it has not expressed any opinion on the matrimonial dispute between the petitioner and his wife. Both the parties are free to find a solution under the law of the land. The Court has given its decision to limit the scope of Qazi only. Any such decision will not be valid in future.

This rate is about half a percentage point higher than the 10-year Eurobond, which was issued in April 2021.

What is a Sukuk Bond?

Sukuk is the Arabic name for financial certificates. It is also known as Sharia compliant bonds. The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) defines sukuk as "securities of similar denomination that represent individual ownership interests in a portfolio of eligible current or future assets". defines in. The OIC's Fiqh Academy legalized the use of sukuk in 1988.
